Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to download anything or get special gear?

No! Part of the beauty of our environments is that you can simply click a link and instantly join via your web browser. Any browser may work, but Chrome functions the best. No VR or other gear required.

Do I have to interact with other people or reveal anything about myself?

No. I’m an introvert, so I get the desire to work alone and stay incognito. I would never force you to socialize or work with other people. You can turn off your video and audio and go through it completely alone, if you wish.

That said, I’ve also discovered through personal experience the tremendous value of connecting with others. And research in psychology and neuroscience makes it clear that your motivation, performance, completion rates, neuroplasticity, creativity, learning, enjoyment, and happiness are all much higher when you connect and learn with other people – even if you’re an introvert!

So for best results, take advantage of the interpersonal aspects of the course, including our regular scheduled “Learning Happy Hours.” But the choice is yours.

Is this program for the elderly and people with brain disorders?

We’ve selected techniques and training methods that can work for anyone.

They are not meant only for people with memory deficits. Many of our users are mentally functional and even talented and just want to improve even more.

That said, our methods do also work for people with learning deficits. The techniques we teach circumvent biological challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, brain fog, and dementia, and in many cases directly improve them.

Not only do these users succeed, they often succeed more than average. The unconventional techniques and 3D platform jive well with unconventional brains.

You’ll learn techniques that are much more fun, creative, and engaging than how learning is typically taught. Don’t worry if you’ve struggled with learning or memory previously, because our methods use vastly different parts of the brain that circumvent those challenges. But they’re not weaker “compensations” compared to how most people are taught to learn – they’re actually stronger neural systems that have been developing ever since humans first existed.

How much time do I need to invest to be successful with this program?

It depends on your goals, personal strengths, and challenges.

Just a couple hours per week is enough to make massive progress. Even if you do less than that, tiny changes in behavior can bring huge changes in results. Right now, you’re probably spending barely any time on the things you already know you “should” be doing, and you’re spending zero time on powerful strategies that you don’t yet know about, so even 20 minutes per week could substantially change your trajectory.

Ultimately, of course, the more you put in the more you get out.

How does the 1-on-1 brain coaching work?

What we’ll spend our time doing:

During sessions: as your coach, I’ll use my experience with dozens of clients like you to help you develop self-empowering skills, including the ability to clearly define your objectives; identify, learn, and practice likely-beneficial behaviors and techniques; and evaluate their effectiveness so you can expand your skills and positive habits a bit more every day.

We’ll usually do a variety of in-depth trainings, adapted to your current needs. These may include helping you better define your vision and goals, mindset work, skill assessments, demonstrating techniques, giving you real-time feedback as you practice, and science-based problem-solving.

But we can also just talk, so you can get emotional support and encouragement.

Most sessions also include accountability check-ins. We’ll celebrate your recent successes and troubleshoot your recent challenges. If you didn’t hit a goal, what went wrong? What is the real, deeper problem that you might not be aware of? How can we resolve it and take new, better action? We’ll work together to brainstorm solutions and make better goals and plans.

Between sessions: we’ll keep in touch frequently so you get accountability, guidance, feedback, encouragement, and a chance to ask questions almost every day. We’ll also track your progress together. As you complete Action Items, I’ll help you identify next steps so that you make constant, fast progress.

How is brain coaching different from other coaching, such as life coaching, and from "brain hacking"?

Unlike many so-called “self-help gurus,” I don’t use faulty, impersonalized clichés. If something really worked for everyone, everyone would already be doing it! Some “brain hacks” can be helpful for some people some of the time, but usually only in the short term or only if you make a habit of applying them consistently, which is difficult for most people.

That’s why I focus on finding effective, long-term solutions that are tailored to your individual needs. In some cases, these are fast-acting, simple tips that I’ll help you make into a habit. But I’ll also help you uncover your deeper needs, so you can make more gradual but long-lasting changes that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
